Sheddin’ some goo

All I can say is W00t! I am down to 232lbs! How, you ask? It’s 2-fold. First, I started tracking what I eat on www.livestrong.com. The site is free and it is awesome. You can also track your exercise but I’m not doing that at the moment. Second, I started getting up every morning and working out for an hour before work. Not some sissy workout either. I’m talking about P90X. It’s rough, and I’m not flexible or balanced, but I do the best I can and it’s working! At this rate, I’ll be able to keep up with the videos in no time.

I’m fat…

I’ve come to the conclusion that nobody expects to keep their New Years resolutions, and therefore, they don’t, which is why I chose not to make any this year. That being said, I do need to make some changes in my life. Some of you already know that I work for a company that makes weight-loss and health & wellness products. Well, since I started there, just over a year ago, I’m officially fatter than ever. I’m about 6′ tall and weigh 252lbs. It looks like it’s time to try out some of these products and and actually put the gym to good use. The biggest problem I’ve always had with exercise is I don’t have anyone to hold me accountable. I get lazy and just stop working out. So… I figured who better to do that than everyone? I will try to record my progress here and we’ll see how I do. Hopefully this will turn into a good testimonial after a while. My strategy will be a combination of circuit training and muscle-building.

Monday, I started with 10 minutes on the exercise bike to warm up and did 3 sets of 8 shoulder presses with some light weight. Then I did 3 sets of 8 pull-ups. My fat butt can’t do the pull-ups naturally, so I am using an assisted pull-up machine for now. I’m not going to say how much weight I put on it right now because it’s embarrassing. Maybe after I get better I will tell you what it was. Then 3 sets of 5 burpees. Those things will kill me.

Today I started with 15 minutes on the treadmill at 4MPH to warm up, then 3 sets of 8 dead-lifts with some light weight and 3 sets of 8 pull-ups (just like on Monday).

Check out the GymJunkies link for an awesome site about this stuff. I am planning on taking a lot of advice from Vic, who runs that site.
